Hello and thanks for reading. I’m a landscape designer and former retail manager. I’m currently working at the Green Garage in Midtown Detroit as a sustainability support services provider. What the heck does that mean? Well, I started there in 2008 with their net zero energy design group, and then I helped them with their landscape design, and then with their construction project, and now I’m helping with their operation, which is a green business incubator and sustainability library. I’m also a non-traditional (that means MUCH OLDER, in my case) architecture student. The Green Garage owners and community have been very accepting of my short attention span and inability to commit to anything for long periods of time.
One exception to that is that waste has been a hot button for me for a very long time. Fortunately, Peggy and Tom Brennan, co-owners of the Green Garage have been very supportive of my efforts to slay senseless and random acts of disposal. We’re all in this together, you, me, the Brennan’s and the planet. And the planet, well she can’t take much more of the land-filling and incinerating that’s been going on lately.
